2Timothy 1
1. Paul <3972>, an apostle <652> of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>
by the will <2307> of God <2316>, according <2596> to the
promise <1860> of life <2222> which <3588> is in Christ <5547>
Jesus <2424>,
2 To Timothy <5095>, [my] dearly beloved <27> son <5043>: Grace
<5485>, mercy <1656>, [and] peace <1515>, from God <2316> the
Father <3962> and Christ <5547> Jesus <2424> our Lord <2962>.
3 I thank <5485> God <2316>, whom <3739> I serve <3000> from
[my] forefathers <4269> with pure <2513> conscience <4893>, that
without <88> ceasing <88> I have <2192> remembrance <3417> of
thee in my prayers <1162> night <3571> and day <2250>;
4 Greatly <1971> desiring <1971> to see <1492> thee, being
mindful <3403> of thy tears <1144>, that I may be filled <4137>
with joy <5479>;
5 When I call <2983> to remembrance <5280> the unfeigned <505>
faith <4102> that is in thee, which <3748> dwelt <1774> first
<4412> in thy grandmother <3125> Lois <3090>, and thy mother
<3384> Eunice <2131>; and I am persuaded <3982> that in thee
also <2532>.
6. Wherefore <3739> I put <363> thee in remembrance <363> that
thou stir <329> up the gift <5486> of God <2316>, which <3739>
is in thee by the putting <1936> on <1936> of my hands <5495>.
7 For God <2316> hath not given <1325> us the spirit <4151> of
fear <1167>; but of power <1411>, and of love <26>, and of a
sound <4995> mind <4995>.
8 Be not thou therefore <3767> ashamed <1870> of the testimony
<3142> of our Lord <2962>, nor <3366> of me his prisoner <1198>:
but be thou partaker <4777> of the afflictions <4777> of the
gospel <2098> according <2596> to the power <1411> of God <2316>;
9 Who <3588> hath saved <4982> us, and called <2564> [us] with
an holy <40> calling <2821>, not according <2596> to our works
<2041>, but according <2596> to his own <2398> purpose <4286>
and grace <5485>, which <3588> was given <1325> us in Christ
<5547> Jesus <2424> before <4253> the world <166> began,
10 But is now <3568> made <5319> manifest <5319> by the
appearing <2015> of our Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ
<5547>, who hath abolished <2673> death <2288>, and hath brought
<5461> life <2222> and immortality <861> to light <5461> through
<1223> the gospel <2098>:
11 Whereunto <3739> I am appointed <5087> a preacher <2783>,
and an apostle <652>, and a teacher <1320> of the Gentiles
<1484>.
12 For the which <3739> cause <156> I also <2532> suffer <3958>
these <5023> things: nevertheless <235> I am not ashamed <1870>:
for I know <1492> whom <3739> I have believed <4100>, and am
persuaded <3982> that he is able <1415> to keep <5442> that
which I have committed <3866> unto him against <1519> that day
<2250>.
13 Hold <2192> fast the form <5296> of sound <5198> words
<3056>, which <3739> thou hast heard <191> of me, in faith
<4102> and love <26> which <3588> is in Christ <5547> Jesus
<2424>.
14 That good <2570> thing which was committed <3872> unto thee
keep <5442> by the Holy <40> Ghost <4151> which <3588> dwelleth
<1774> in us.
15. This <5124> thou knowest <1492>, that all <3956> they which
are in Asia <773> be turned <654> away <654> from me; of whom
<3739> are Phygellus <5436> and Hermogenes <2061>.
16 The Lord <2962> give <1325> mercy <1656> unto the house
<3624> of Onesiphorus <3683>; for he oft <4178> refreshed <404>
me, and was not ashamed <1870> of my chain <254>:
17 But, when he was in Rome <4516>, he sought <2212> me out
very <4708> diligently <4706>, and found <2147> [me].
18 The Lord <2962> grant <1325> unto him that he may find
<2147> mercy <1656> of the Lord <2962> in that day <2250>: and
in how <3745> many <3745> things he ministered <1247> unto me at
<1722> Ephesus <2181>, thou knowest <1097> very <957> well <957>.
2Timothy 2
1. Thou therefore <3767>, my son <5043>, be strong <1743> in
the grace <5485> that is in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.
2 And the things that thou hast heard <191> of me among <1223>
many <4183> witnesses <3144>, the same <5023> commit <3908> thou
to faithful <4103> men <444>, who <3748> shall be able <2425> to
teach <1321> others <2087> also <2532>.
3 Thou therefore <3767> endure <2553> hardness <2553>, as a
good <2570> soldier <4757> of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.
4 No <3762> man <3762> that warreth <4754> entangleth <1707>
himself with the affairs <4230> of [this] life <979>; that he
may please <700> him who hath chosen <4758> him to be a soldier
<4758>.
5 And if <1437> a man <5100> also <2532> strive <118> for
masteries, [yet] is he not crowned <4737>, except <3362> he
strive <118> lawfully <3545>.
6 The husbandman <1092> that laboureth <2872> must <1163> be
first <4413> partaker <3335> of the fruits <2590>.
7 Consider <3539> what <3739> I say <3004>; and the Lord <2962>
give <1325> thee understanding <4907> in all <3956> things.
8. Remember <3421> that Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> of the seed
<4690> of David <1138> was raised <1453> from the dead <3498>
according <2596> to my gospel <2098>:
9 Wherein <3757> I suffer <2553> trouble <2553>, as an evil
<2557> doer <2557>, [even] unto bonds <1199>; but the word
<3056> of God <2316> is not bound <1210>.
10 Therefore I endure <5278> all <3956> things for the elect's
<1588> sakes, that they may also <2532> obtain <5177> the
salvation <4991> which <3588> is in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>
with eternal <166> glory <1391>.
11 [It is] a faithful <4103> saying <3056>: For if <1487> we be
dead <4880> with [him], we shall also <2532> live <4800> with
[him]:
12 If <1487> we suffer <5278>, we shall also <2532> reign
<4821> with [him]: if <1487> we deny <720> [him], he also <2548>
will deny <720> us:
13 If <1487> we believe <569> not, [yet] he abideth <3306>
faithful <4103>: he cannot <1410> deny <720> himself <1438>.
14. Of these <5023> things put <5279> [them] in remembrance
<5279>, charging <1263> [them] before <1799> the Lord <2962>
that they strive <3054> not about words <3054> to no <3762>
profit <5539>, [but] to the subverting <2692> of the hearers
<191>.
15 Study <4704> to shew <3936> thyself <4572> approved <1384>
unto God <2316>, a workman <2040> that needeth <422> not to be
ashamed <422>, rightly dividing <3718> the word <3056> of truth
<225>.
16 But shun <4026> profane <952> [and] vain <2757> babblings
<2757>: for they will increase <4298> unto more <4119>
ungodliness <763>.
17 And their word <3056> will eat <2192> as doth a canker
<1044>: of whom <3739> is Hymenaeus <5211> and Philetus <5372>;
18 Who <3748> concerning <4012> the truth <225> have erred
<795>, saying <3004> that the resurrection <386> is past <1096>
already <2235>; and overthrow <397> the faith <4102> of some
<5100>.
19. Nevertheless <3305> the foundation <2310> of God <2316>
standeth <2476> sure <4731>, having <2192> this <5026> seal
<4973>, The Lord <2962> knoweth <1097> them that are his. And,
Let every <3956> one that nameth <3687> the name <3686> of
Christ <5547> depart <868> from iniquity <93>.
20 But in a great <3173> house <3614> there are not only <3440>
vessels <4632> of gold <5552> and of silver <693>, but also
<2532> of wood <3585> and of earth <3749>; and some <3588> to
honour <5092>, and some <3588> to dishonour <819>.
21 If <1437> a man <5100> therefore <3767> purge <1571> himself
<1438> from these <5130>, he shall be a vessel <4632> unto
honour <5092>, sanctified <37>, and meet <2173> for the master's
<1203> use, [and] prepared <2090> unto every <3956> good <18>
work <2041>.
22. Flee <5343> also <1161> youthful <3512> lusts <1939>: but
follow <1377> righteousness <1343>, faith <4102>, charity <26>,
peace <1515>, with them that call <1941> on <1941> the Lord
<2962> out of a pure <2513> heart <2588>.
23 But foolish <3474> and unlearned <521> questions <2214>
avoid <3868>, knowing <1492> that they do gender <1080> strifes
<3163>.
24 And the servant <1401> of the Lord <2962> must <1163> not
strive <3164>; but be gentle <2261> unto all <3956> [men], apt
<1317> to teach <1317>, patient <420>,
25 In meekness <4236> instructing <3811> those <3588> that
oppose <475> themselves; if <3379> God <2316> peradventure
<3379> will give <1325> them repentance <3341> to the
acknowledging <1922> of the truth <225>;
26 And [that] they may recover <366> themselves out of the
snare <3803> of the devil <1228>, who are taken <2221> captive
<2221> by him at <1519> his will <2307>.
2Timothy 3
1. This <5124> know <1097> also <1161>, that in the last <2078>
days <2250> perilous <5467> times <2540> shall come <1764>.
2 For men <444> shall be lovers <5367> of their own selves
<5367>, covetous <5366>, boasters <213>, proud <5244>,
blasphemers <989>, disobedient <545> to parents <1118>,
unthankful <884>, unholy <462>,
3 Without <794> natural affection <794>, trucebreakers <786>,
false <1228> accusers <1228>, incontinent <193>, fierce <434>,
despisers <865> of those that are good <865>,
4 Traitors <4273>, heady <4312>, highminded <5187>, lovers
<5369> of pleasures <5569> more <3123> than <2228> lovers <5377>
of God <5377>;
5 Having <2192> a form <3446> of godliness <2150>, but denying
<720> the power <1411> thereof <846>: from such <5128> turn
<665> away <665>.
6 For of this <5130> sort are they which creep <1519> into
<1519> houses <3614>, and lead <162> captive <162> silly <1133>
women <1133> laden <4987> with sins <266>, led <71> away with
divers <4164> lusts <1939>,
7 Ever <3842> learning <3129>, and never <3368> able <1410> to
come <2064> to the knowledge <1922> of the truth <225>.
8 Now <1161> as Jannes <2389> and Jambres <2387> withstood
<436> Moses <3475>, so <3779> do these <3778> also <2532> resist
<436> the truth <225>: men <444> of corrupt <2704> minds <3563>,
reprobate <96> concerning <4012> the faith <4102>.
9 But they shall proceed <4298> no <3756> further <4208>: for
their folly <454> shall be manifest <1552> unto all <3956> [men],
as theirs <1565> also <2532> was.
10. But thou hast fully <3877> known <3877> my doctrine <1319>,
manner <72> of life <72>, purpose <4286>, faith <4102>,
longsuffering <3115>, charity <26>, patience <5281>,
11 Persecutions <1375>, afflictions <3804>, which <3634> came
<1096> unto me at <1722> Antioch <490>, at <1722> Iconium <2430>,
at <1722> Lystra <3082>; what <3634> persecutions <1375> I
endured <5297>: but out of [them] all <3956> the Lord <2962>
delivered <4506> me.
12 Yea <1161>, and all <3956> that will <2309> live <2198>
godly <2153> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424> shall suffer <1377>
persecution <1377>.
13 But evil <4190> men <444> and seducers <1114> shall wax
<4298> worse <5501> and worse <5501>, deceiving <4105>, and
being deceived <4105>.
14 But continue <3306> thou in the things which <3739> thou
hast learned <3129> and hast been assured <4104> of, knowing
<1492> of whom <5101> thou hast learned <3129> [them];
15 And that from a child <1025> thou hast known <1492> the holy
<2413> scriptures <1121>, which <3588> are able <1410> to make
<4679> thee wise <4679> unto salvation <4991> through <1223>
faith <4102> which <3588> is in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.
16 All <3956> scripture <1124> [is] given by inspiration <2315>
of God <2315>, and [is] profitable <5624> for doctrine <1319>,
for reproof <1650>, for correction <1882>, for instruction
<3809> in righteousness <1343>:
17 That the man <444> of God <2316> may be perfect <739>,
throughly <1822> furnished <1822> unto all <3956> good <18>
works <2041>.
2Timothy 4
1. I charge <1263> [thee] therefore <3767> before <1799> God
<2316>, and the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, who
<3588> shall judge <2919> the quick <2198> and the dead <3498>
at <2596> his appearing <2015> and his kingdom <932>;
2 Preach <2784> the word <3056>; be instant <2186> in season
<2121>, out of season <171>; reprove <1651>, rebuke <2008>,
exhort <3870> with all <3956> longsuffering and doctrine <1322>.
3 For the time <2540> will come <1511> when <3753> they will
not endure <430> sound <5198> doctrine <1319>; but after <2596>
their own <2398> lusts <1939> shall they heap <2002> to
themselves <1438> teachers <1320>, having itching <2833> ears
<189>;
4 And they shall turn <654> away <654> [their] ears <189> from
the truth <225>, and shall be turned <654> unto fables <3454>.
5 But watch <3525> thou in all <3956> things, endure <2553>
afflictions <2553>, do <4160> the work <2041> of an evangelist
<2099>, make <4135> full <4135> proof <4135> of thy ministry
<1248>.
6 For I am now <2236> ready <4689> to be offered <4689>, and
the time <2540> of my departure <359> is at <2186> hand <2186>.
7 I have fought <75> a good <2570> fight <73>, I have finished
<5055> [my] course <1408>, I have kept <5083> the faith <4102>:
8 Henceforth <3063> there is laid <606> up for me a crown
<4735> of righteousness <1343>, which <3739> the Lord <2962>,
the righteous <1342> judge <2923>, shall give <591> me at <1722>
that day <2250>: and not to me only <3440>, but unto all <3956>
them also <2532> that love <25> his appearing <2015>.
9. Do <4704> thy diligence <4704> to come <2064> shortly <5030>
unto me:
10 For Demas <1214> hath forsaken <1459> me, having loved <25>
this <3588> present <3568> world <165>, and is departed <4198>
unto Thessalonica <2332>; Crescens <2913> to Galatia <1053>,
Titus <5103> unto Dalmatia <1149>.
11 Only <3441> Luke <3065> is with me. Take <353> Mark <3138>,
and bring <71> him with thee: for he is profitable <2173> to me
for the ministry <1248>.
12 And Tychicus <5190> have I sent <649> to Ephesus <2181>.
13 The cloke <5341> that I left <620> at <1722> Troas <5174>
with Carpus <2591>, when thou comest <2064>, bring <5342> [with
thee], and the books <975>, [but] especially <3122> the
parchments <3200>.
14 Alexander <223> the coppersmith <5471> did <1731> me much
<4183> evil <2556>: the Lord <2962> reward <591> him according
<2596> to his works <2041>:
15 Of whom <3739> be thou ware <5442> also <2532>; for he hath
greatly <3029> withstood <436> our words <3056>.
16. At <1722> my first <4413> answer <627> no <3762> man <3762>
stood <4836> with me, but all <3956> [men] forsook <1459> me: [I
pray God] that it may not be laid <3049> to their charge <3049>.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord <2962> stood <3936> with me, and
strengthened <1743> me; that by me the preaching <2782> might be
fully <4135> known <4135>, and [that] all <3956> the Gentiles
<1484> might hear <191>: and I was delivered <4506> out of the
mouth <4750> of the lion <3023>.
18 And the Lord <2962> shall deliver <4506> me from every
<3956> evil <4190> work <2041>, and will preserve <4982> [me]
unto his heavenly <2032> kingdom <932>: to whom <3739> [be]
glory <1391> for ever <165> and ever <165>. Amen <281>.
19 Salute <782> Prisca <4251> and Aquila <207>, and the
household <3624> of Onesiphorus <3683>.
20 Erastus <2037> abode <3306> at <1722> Corinth <2882>: but
Trophimus <5161> have I left <620> at <1722> Miletum <3399> sick
<770>.
21 Do <4704> thy diligence <4704> to come <2064> before <4253>
winter <5494>. Eubulus <2103> greeteth <782> thee, and Pudens
<4227>, and Linus <3044>, and Claudia <2803>, and all <3956> the
brethren <80>.
22 The Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> [be] with thy
spirit <4151>. Grace <5485> [be] with you. Amen <281>.
